    Throughout his life,Bobby Doyle was always involved in his community.  To honor his memory and to allow him to continue to give back to the community, Bobby's family and close friends, with the help of the Rhode Island Track and Field Coaches Association, held the 1st annual Bobby Doyle 5-Mile Summer Classic in August of 2008.  We are proud to announce The 2nd Annual Bobby Doyle 5-Mile Summer Classic, to be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 5PM in Narragansett, RI.

    The Bobby Doyle 5-Mile Summer Classic is a non-profit road race which supports The Bobby Doyle Scholarships and The Bobby Doyle Youth Running Fund, which are both devoted to enhancing and supporting high school and youth running in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Unlike other races that are put on to benefit a race director and a promoter, 100% of the proceeds from The Bobby Doyle Summer Classic go directly to the local youth running community.

    In 2008, two high school senior scholar-athletes were awarded $1250 scholarships.  Significant donations were also made to the Narragansett High School Track Team, the Providence Cobras Track Club, the Seekonk Newman YMCA Track and Field Program, and the Smithfield Sentinal Striders.
